What is a .VUD File?
Virtual machine virtual disk used by Windows Virtual PC for the purposes of running Windows virtual machines (VMs); this file is used to keep track of files that have been created, deleted, and modified since the virtual machine’s virtual disk was last loaded.

When you use VUD files, you can discard undo disks, meaning you can revert to the last loaded VHD file after changing the virtual hard drive. As an alternative, you can commit undo disks so that the changes you make to the existing VHD file are permanently saved.
